Toronto, August 15th, 2016  – Scarsin Corporation, a software development company specializing in providing an enterprise-class Forecasting platform to global organizations, today announced that it is making a significant commitment to Precious Minds, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities in North Durham Region (Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog township). Precious Minds offers a variety of programs and services to families in the community. Scarsin’s commitment includes immediate monetary support of the Precious Minds Art Studio program by providing funds for studio resources and supplies. Longer term, Scarsin has committed to being a corporate partner to Precious Minds.

The Art Studio is a client-centered day program that supports meaningful and creative skill-building opportunities for adults and adolescents with developmental disabilities in the community. Not only does this program provide a safe, social structured, creative outlet for youth and adults, but it also assists with the transition to adulthood.  The programming combines artistic participation, life skill development and meaningful expression of community. The Art Studio also plans on offering work placement opportunities for young adults with disabilities once they have finished high school. In addition to developing new skills and creating unique art products, these products are then sold directly back to the community to continue to raise funds for the program.

"Precious Minds would like to thank Scarsin for their generous donation. The Art Studio is committed to providing opportunities where people of all abilities can connect and integrate in meaningful and creative ways. We will continue to ensure a high standard of excellence in artistic and life skill programming. Thank you so much for joining us on this journey to celebrate the unique value and contribution every person brings to the community," says Glenna McClenahan, Program Coordinator of Precious Minds.

“We are excited to be supporting an organization where our donations go directly to a program that is benefiting both youth and young adults in our community. As an Uxbridge-based company, I believe strongly in giving back to the community and selecting programs that have the most impact,” says Paul Minshull, CEO of Scarsin Corporation. “I am excited to see a number of Scarsin employees stepping up and volunteering in other Precious Minds initiatives such as their summer camp.”

Scarsin will be participating as a sponsor at the TechConnex Golf Tournament at Wooden Sticks next week on August 17th. For every ball that hits the island green (hole 17,) Scarsin will donate $50 to Precious Minds. Stay tuned and find out how much money we raise!
